Over the last 12 to 13 years, Jim Linnell has been collecting carvings of different flowers that caught his attention for some reason. He would carve them and then throw them in a box to maybe use later. Recently, he discovered that he had 100 of them and decided they need to be shared.
These flower designs came from a lot of different sources. Some were new creations that Jim came up with, some were reproductions from old carvings, some he modified, and some are from photos that he took. It seems that finding and carving new ones is what intrigued him.
Today, a lot of the same flowers are being carved by everyone and while that is good when you are learning, creativity is muffled when we don’t try new things. So, here are a few new ideas for you to use. The tracing and photocarve patterns are for you to get started. With a copier or printer, you can size them as needed to fit whatever project you are working on. You can also reverse them to make them flow with the design you are creating. These are intended to stimulate your creativity so that you can perhaps develop a style of your own.
