Leather Floral Design and Layout Class by Don Gonzales

One of the most challenging aspects of leatherwork for most people is drawing and designing quality tooling patterns for your projects.  In this class I will show you my process for designing floral tooling patterns along with designing the focal elements within the pattern.

If you have gotten to the point in your tooling where you would like to begin drawing your own patterns, then this class is going to be very helpful in giving you the tools to do that.  We will discuss concepts of flow, composition, focal points as well as designing flowers and leaves.  I will also show you how to incorporate figures, brands and initials into your work in a way that compliments the work.

This class will be hosted by Jim Linnell at Elktracks Studio on September 23, 2017 and will be from 9am to 5pm.  This is a one day drawing class.  The only supplies that you will need is a sketch/drawing pad or notebook and pencils.  If you would like, check out our article “5 Tools for Floral Tooling Layout” and feel free to bring those items as well.  We will mainly be focused on the drawing and design of floral tooling, but will touch on some tooling aspects as they pertain to the layout and design.

This class is limited to 20 students and the cost is $125 for the day.  The class is expected to fill up quickly.  If you would like to attend we are offering sign up now.  Come join us!
