About This Video

Fresh off an Alaskan cruise, Jim Linnell teaches how to carve the majestic moose as a follow-up to his live classes taught in Anchorage.

The first part of the class is dedicated to understanding the tooling of the maple leaves that frame the pattern. From there, Jim demonstrates the techniques to create the unique features such as its antlers, muzzle, eye, and fur.

The pattern is for a 5 X 7 piece of leather. You can easily enlarge it to fit a notebook or whatever suits you. The weight of leather you use is up to you. The tools that I will use to carve this include: Mallet, Stylus, Swivel Knife, Modelling Spoon, Petal Lifter, Fine Hair Blade, Steep Angled Checked Bevelers in smaller sizes, Pear Shaders in smaller sizes, Background and Matting tools in your preferred texture, Figure Carving Bevelers such as F895 and F891, Pointed Figure Bevelers such as F976, F910, F902, & F902-2.

This is a recording of a live, online class, so viewers benefit from both audience questions and workshop moderation.
